Thai massage establishments nearly always offer manicure and pedicure as well. These pictures were taken at The Ivory in Pratamnak, where I had a manicure and pedicure, lasting 45 mins, for 350TBH (Thai Baht). That’s about £8 at 2016-17 rates.
The Ivory, next to Pratamnak Night Market, is a cut above many massage-mani-pedi joints. Its well furnished with really pleasant and relaxing surroundings. You enter through a kind of mini hanging garden which is very tranquil. The owner speaks very good English but many of the staff don’t.
The girl that did my manicure and pedicure (350 B) was Khmer and spoke no English whatsoever. Having said that she was very smiley, attentive and thorough. A manicure or pedicure on its own will cost you 200TBH – £4.50.
As a guy, I felt a bit self-conscious having my hands and feet pampered, a thing often restricted to ladies in the West. But when you live in flip-flops all year round it is fantastic to get some foot therapy every now and then! I have been there twice now, a year apart, and I’ve had good service both times so I can recommend it. I haven’t tried the Thai massage though.
